How to import CSV data
How to import data
Open Settings → Data → Import data.
Download the sample CSV file to see the expected format.
Upload your CSV file.
You can upload files exported from other apps even if their format is different. During the import process you will be able to map columns and adjust configuration so the data matches Fineyo’s format.
Expected columns
The CSV file may contain the following columns:
Date
Required.
Any date format is supported. Fineyo will try to detect the format automatically, but you can manually specify the format during import if needed.
Amount
Required.
Only comma or dot can be used as the decimal separator. Thousand separators are not supported.
Positive value → transaction is treated as income
Negative value → transaction is treated as expense
Main currency
Optional.
Currency code for the main account currency. If not provided, app currency will be used.
Currency
Optional.
If provided, this will be treated as the transaction currency. The amount will be converted to the main currency. If the same as the main currency, it has no effect.
Exchange rate
Optional.
Used when converting from Currency to Main currency. • Ignored if Currency is not provided or equals Main currency
If not provided, Fineyo will try to use exchange rates from the app settings
If no rate is found, it will fall back to 1
Category
Optional. Fineyo will create a new category if it does not exist. The category type (income or expense) is determined automatically based on the Amount value.
If not provided, the Fallback category configuration will be used.
Account
Optional.
A new account will be created automatically if it does not exist.
Payee
Optional.
A new payee will be created automatically if it does not exist.
Tags
Optional.
Comma-separated list of tag names. New tags will be created automatically if needed.
Note
Optional.
Transaction note.
Repeats
Optional.
Supported values: daily, weekly, monthly, annual.
If provided, the transaction will be created as a recurring transaction.
Validation
After configuring the import settings, press Validate.
Fineyo will analyze the file and show:
number of valid rows
number of failed rows
Rows that failed validation will appear at the bottom with details explaining what needs to be fixed.
If at least one row passes validation, the Validate button will change to Import.
Press Import to import all valid rows.
After the process finishes, Fineyo will show a notification with the import results.
